This view of the Derrick Sleeping car shows some of the modifications
made to the car in its conversion from a coach to a bunk car for the
derrick crew. The addition of a roof walk to the top of the car and the
installation of the non-railroad standard vestibule door are examples of
the modifications that were made. The holes, from corrosion and rusting,
along the lower edge of the car side are indicative of the rigors of
maintenance of way service.
