This snowplow was originally constructed by the Rock Island from one of their steam locomotive tenders when the Rock dieselized.
When the bankruptcy court liquidated the Rock in the 1970's the plow was sold to the Chicago and Northwestern. The plow
served the C & NW for several years until the UP acquisition. A few years ago there was a heavy snowfall on the Hallam branch,
old Rock mainline, and the plow returned to home rails and has stayed in Fairbury since then.
