In a pose that could be from anytime between World War I and the current day, a pilot reads a letter from home.
The plaque on the pedistal of the statue has an interesting poem.
Mail From Home
He sits today alone in thought
the letter held in tired hands.
Seated now in bronze forever
he fights for what his country stands.
The saving parachute held on his knee
weariness etched deep upon his face.
Far from home the letter came
A line of love from a cherished place.
The man-child sits in frozen time
back from war, yet one more day.
A statue portraying American men
fighting, dying for freedoms way.
The tie from home, whatever held
yet bound with strings like steel.
Emotions frozen like thousands were.
Just what does a lone man feel.
