U.P. 3977 was built by the American Locomotive Company in June of 1943.
Conversion from coal to oil burning was accomplished in 1945. 3977 served
the Union Pacific until the late 1950's and was officially retired
in November 1961. U.P. donated the 3977 to the railroad museum in 1968.
