Oildale's namesake refinery occupies the center of the lowest level of the layout, and processes the crude from the wells scattered through the area. Oildale provides fuel and/or cargo for many of the trains on the Sierra Western Railroad. The PA in the foreground is on long-term lease to the refinery and sees occasional service corralling loose tank cars. Just right of the photo is the main operators' position and dispatch panel. During the Fair, as many as three people are stationed there to handle mainline operations. Dan Espinosa photo
